About

I live in New York, where I write children's books, teach and perform trapeze and acrobatics, and do handstands obsessively. I also make art of all sorts and I get antsy when I don't have time for it. Things I have done in the recent past and sometimes still do: edit children's books, teach flying trapeze, and take classes in ballet and rhythm tap.

When I'm not working or crafting or upside down, I go ice skating, eat ice cream, and laugh a lot with my girlfriend, Heather. And we play a lot of Boggle.

I try to keep up with a list of books read, which has everything since 2000 except for picture books. During a college internship in children's publishing, I put together a humorous web page of the really bad unsolicited manuscripts I came across.

I have been designing web sites for a good while now. You can see my past layouts. The lace image at the top of this layout was created by ruffling a piece of lace using my sewing machine, then scanning it and manipulating it digitally.

Here are some candidates for a one-sentence bio:

Megan is an aerialist, acrobat, and writer.
When she is not in a handstand, Megan tap dances, writes children's books, and teaches trapeze.
Megan is well versed in making lovely art small enough to hold in your hands; she can generally be found upside down and/or plotting more projects than there is ever time to finish.
Megan is an avalanche and a hurricane.
